Course objective

     The MFU School of Medicine has the objectives to provide education accordance with the guidelines and Acts of theNational Education Act 1999 and Amendment2002, the Medical Profession Act 1982, the Professional Standard of the Thai Medical Council 2002, the Implementation of the National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education 2009, Criteria for the approval of the curriculum for Doctor of Medicine (adopted by the Board of Directors for the Thai Medical Council, meeting No. 7/2003 on July 10, 2003) and the National Health Security Act 2002 in order to produce medical graduates that possess the following attributes:

  • Good morals, ethics and attitudes towards the medical profession
  • Confidence, faith and pride in the medical profession
  • Interest in self-study, research and critical thinking to systematically solve problems, having the potential to conduct research for problem resolution, development of new knowledge and clinical research with community-based focus
  • Ability and passion for continuous education
  • Good interpersonal skills as well as skills in explanation and inter-personal communication, including the capability for teamwork, report writing, presentation and knowledge communication
  • Knowledge and potential in multiple areas, competent and able to effectively develop oneself in the medical profession and field of public health, with leadership skills, and distinctive competence in community and family medicine. In addition, graduates should have the ability to train other members of the community and society in medicine, health promotion, disease prevention, and public health, while also having the ability to adjust to change
  • Knowledge, capability andunderstandingtoskillfully solve problems holistically by considering the causative factors, including physical, psychological, social, family and environmental aspects
  • Ability to assess situations and one’s own potential
  • Ability to work in both rural and urban communitiesbeing dependable for society, families, and communities, and have suitable and proper management abilities
  • Able to select and apply technology in health education and health care, health promotion, disease prevention and rehabilitation, and patient transfer, including in family planning as deemed necessary and in accordance with the economic status of the patient and society
Course information

Doctor of Medicine is composed of a total of 255 credits

Course format

Format: 6-year Bachelor’s degree program (level 2 according to guidelines set by the guidelines of the National Education Act 1999)
Language: Thai and English
Admissions: Admissions are open only to Thai nationals, and are in accordance with MFU Undergraduate Admissions Proceedings 1999 and MFU Doctor of Medicine Admissions Proceedings 2012.
Collaboration: The course includes collaborations with hospitals for training at clinical level, composed of: 
Collaboration of production and development of human resources in health sciences between the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Public Health, Bangkok, and MFU. The course is advised and supervised by the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.
From the first to third year, students study pre-medicine and pre-clinic courses at MFU. From the fourth to sixth year, students study clinical courses at various medical institutions.
